How do I get from JFK to Lexington/53rd?
I honestly have no idea how these subways work in New York, I know there is a subway station I guess at Lexington Avenue and 53rd street which is very close to my hotel. How much will it be and how long will it take? thanks!

Sasha, here how to get from JFK to Lexington Avenue/53rd Street. Step 1: take the Airtrain from the terminal to Jamaica Station. Please listen for the announcement "Station D: Jamaica Station." Step 2: at Jamaica Station, purchase a $7.25 MetroCard from the MetroCard Vending Machine, and exit the Airtrain system into Jamaica Station. A $5 fare will be deducted from your MetroCard, when exiting the Airtrain system at Jamaica Station. The remaining $2.25 will use for the subway. Step 3: Once thought turnstile (faregate), follow the directional signs to the New York City subway. Upon entering the subway, take the Manhattan-bound (westbound) "E" express train (Blue Line on the subway map) from Sutphin Blvd-JFK/Jamaica Station to Lexington Avenue/53rd Street. I hope this information is very helpful. If you have any questions or need travel directions while in town, just drop me a line by clicking on the avatar and e-mail icon in the profile. I'll be glad to help. Good luck Native New Yorker and daily commuter

Do you really want to drag luggage on a subway? I'd take a taxi. Some things are worth the price.
Answer 3 :
Get in a taxi and tell him to take you to Lexington and 53rd. How long? Well, if you have a good taxi driver: 45 minutes to an hour If you have a SAFE taxi driver: an hour to an hour and a half (incidentally, We don't have a lot of SAFE taxi drivers here)
