About How do I get from JFK to Lexington/53rd

How do I get from JFK to Lexington/53rd?
I honestly have no idea how these subways work in New York, I know there is a subway station I guess at Lexington Avenue and 53rd street which is very close to my hotel. How much will it be and how long will it take? thanks!

Answer 1 :
Sasha, here how to get from JFK to Lexington Avenue/53rd Street. Step 1: take the Airtrain from the terminal to Jamaica Station. Please listen for the announcement "Station D: Jamaica Station." Step 2: at Jamaica Station, purchase a $7.25 MetroCard from the MetroCard Vending Machine, and exit the Airtrain system into Jamaica Station. A $5 fare will be deducted from your MetroCard, when exiting the Airtrain system at Jamaica Station. The remaining $2.25 will use for the subway. Step 3: Once thought turnstile (faregate), follow the directional signs to the New York City subway. Upon entering the subway, take the Manhattan-bound (westbound) "E" express train (Blue Line on the subway map) from Sutphin Blvd-JFK/Jamaica Station to Lexington Avenue/53rd Street. I hope this information is very helpful. If you have any questions or need travel directions while in town, just drop me a line by clicking on the avatar and e-mail icon in the profile. I'll be glad to help. Good luck Native New Yorker and daily commuter
Answer 2 :
Do you really want to drag luggage on a subway? I'd take a taxi. Some things are worth the price.
Answer 3 :
Get in a taxi and tell him to take you to Lexington and 53rd. How long? Well, if you have a good taxi driver: 45 minutes to an hour If you have a SAFE taxi driver: an hour to an hour and a half (incidentally, We don't have a lot of SAFE taxi drivers here)

About How does your states police academy work

How does your states police academy work?
In Kentucky everyone goes through the same 18 week police academy. That is except for Lexington, Louisville and the state police. I was wondering if it was like this in other states. I heard from someone that there are some departments in some states don't require their officers to go to an academy.

Answer 1 :
Here in Texas if you want to be a State Trooper you go to their academy in Austin, but there are many small city Police Departments and Sheriff's Offices that train their own new officers.
Answer 2 :
Here in CA the training standards are uniform, but there are many academies with different teaching styles. Most take 6 to 9 months depending on if they are full or part time

Best Boston suburb to live w/young family?Prefer to live further out due to affordability.?
Good public schools a must !!! Working in Lexington, don't mind 30-45 minute commute. Moving from midwest. Thanks!

There are a lot to choose from. We lived in North Attleboro which was nice, good family town, close to lots of shopping, etc. But that is south of Boston and you work on the north side. I've also lived in Littleton, MA which is a nice, quiet town but not too far to drive to Lexington. Anything around Littleton, MA to Concord, MA are good family towns NW of Boston. Boxboro, etc. Honestly, the best way I think would be to make a sort of vacation to the area, and instead of visiting the city, go visit all of these towns in the area to get a feel for them. But basically, the closer you get to Boston, the busier the city. Towns Like Littleton, MA and further west are really quiet and sleepy, smaller than some of the quiet midwest towns. The advantage though is that you are in close proximity to everything the bigger cities have to offer

freecycle, give it away for free to someone who needs it.
Answer 2 :
If they are repairable, there are used appliance shops that will take them off your hands and fix them up. Failing that you could contact the local scrap metal dealers.

About What parts of Baltimore are bad

What parts of Baltimore are bad?
I work on West Lexington st. In Baltimore. What areas around there should I stay away from on foot? How about Baltimore as a whole? Where are the 'bad' parts?
Other - United States - 2 Answers

Answer 1 :
Every part inside the city limits! Oh, pardon me, except for where the Ravens play..........
Answer 2 :
Any area of Baltimore can be bad if you're not careful, even the "nice" areas in Canton, Fells Point, and Federal Hill where George Bush's daughter is moving. What you want to avoid is areas that aren't well lit or have vacant houses. Near where you work I would stay as close to the Bon Secours Hospital area as possible, they should have security 24 hours a day. Bad areas in Baltimore are in pockets everywhere, you don't want to wander, go directly to your car or destination whenever possible

About What kind of jobs are there in Lexington, KY

What kind of jobs are there in Lexington, KY?
I am most likely moving to Lexington, KY and I do not know what type of jobs are offered out there. I am a college student and hopefully will be starting an internship out there. I will be getting my degree in business. I currently work for Wells Fargo, and it would be easy to just work for a bank out there. Any help? Any ideas? Thanks a million. =]

Pretty much anything is possible. Computer/technology jobs are probable the least available. My husband is a CCIE. We live here but he travels all over the country for business. We do have plenty of banks, but I can't speak to the number of openings. There are several Wells Fargos in town (8 according to Google). What about getting a transfer? Or if you have to apply, would you be more marketable to them because you already know the company/system/policies/etc.? You can try the local paper for an idea of job categories and number of open positions. With bank as the keyword, it returned 48 openings. Good luck! http://www.kentucky.com/jobs

About Where is the best place for relocating around Lexington NC Area

Where is the best place for relocating around Lexington NC Area?
We are relocating for work to NC from UT. It is a huge move and we are not familiar with back east hardly at all. We have no family or friends there. We plan to find church support, but it will not be nearly the support we are accustomed to in UT. We want a safe place to live, the crime rates seem very high compared to what we are used to here. We would like our children in top notch schools. I have heard that the best schools are private, is that true? I don't know if we can afford tuition for three this year. Raleigh Area seems to be rated well in several places as a good place to live, but it is 2 hours from work, any suggestions? We would like to live no more than 15 - 20 min from Lexington.

If there was anyway to do the Raleigh vicinity I would consider that option -- but as you are aware gas prices are a major factor for commuting. Life is full of decisions and I hope you make the right one for the family... Good luck with the process!

About Whats a good way to pass time at work

Whats a good way to pass time at work?
I just started working at a state park historical site for the battle of lexington. i work tuesday to thursday from 8 am to 4 pm and it goes by extremely slow cause its so boring. i went through a youth corps state park initiative program to work at a state park to get the job, so the place i work doesnt pay me themselves. they dont care when i come in or when i dont, or if i even do anything. i can arrive late and leave early, i dont even have to clock out for lunch. there is no tv or anything there. whats a good way to pass time through the day so i can get through the week faster? i keep thinking about four o clock and going home to take a shower. my boyfriends mom takes me to and from work which is in a different town that i live, everyday. i dont have a car at the moment that will make it to another town. i have to bring my own lunch since i am carless therefore cant leave for lunch. i just want the days to go by faster! I do do my work, and i even go on tours to learn more about it... its just such boring work that it really goes by slow.

Well I would play on my iPad or in my iPhone . If not that start talking to people there.
Answer 2 :
How about actually doing your work? Perhaps trying to learn more about history would help/ become an expert on the Battle of Lexington so as to be able to help park guests... Ask your supervisors to give you tasks that actually keep you busy AND that are productive... Use this "job" as an opportunity to learn/ gain experience rather than wasting your time playing "word mole" on your blackberry

If your only 18 you'll need to drive to Richmond. Otherwise settle for some place that has food and music. Keep in mind some places like that will let you in during the week, but on Friday and Saturday nights you'll have to be 21 and pay a cover
